From Humble Beginnings to Larger Success
Near the turn of the 20th century, Giuseppe and Carmela Siano emigrated from Italy. They brought with them a deep love for food and the skills to prepare it well. They began by selling fresh seafood from a pushcart on the corners of Mott and Hester Streets in New York’s Little Italy. People came from miles around to sample their calamari, scungilli, shrimp, mussels, and clams, expertly prepared and served with their now “World Famous “ mild, medium and hot sauces.
The street cart couldn’t contain their growing business for long. They were so successful, that in 1904 they moved into a storefront on that same corner and named their new restaurant after their son Vincent and the “Original Vincent’s Clam Bar” was born.
That same old-world tradition continues today in New York’s Little Italy and on Long Island at The Vincent’s Clam Bar in Carle Place.
Great Food in a Unique Atmosphere
From the start, the Vincent’s mission has been to preserve and celebrate the Italian-American dining experience and to make connections through food that is authentic, served quickly, and at a reasonable price. Our value proposition is that we exceed our guest’s expectations through our warmth, knowledge of food and products, as well as our courtesy and dedicated commitment to hospitality. We drive home that value with large portions of delicious food served at reasonable prices.
Our dining room is brimming with energy and fun in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Designed with raised mahogany panels, tin ceilings, school house lighting and wooden floors, it evokes a feeling of New York’s Little Italy. The kitchen is open where a guest can experience, first hand, the excitement of a fully operating restaurant. Our café, raw bar, pizza station and bar add further opportunities for guests to enjoy great food, drink and fun.
Born and raised in Queens New York, Co-owners Robert and Anthony Marisi began their restaurant careers while attending college in the late 1970’s.
After moving to Long Island in 1981, they began working as servers at the Vincent’s Clam Bar in Carle Place. When the opportunity became available to purchase the restaurant in 1983 the brothers officially took ownership.
Through diligence, hard work and perseverance their business continued to experience substantial growth.
In 1992 they acquired the intellectual property for the “Original Vincent’s Clam Bar “ making them exclusive owners of the Vincent’s brand.
The Marisi’s have built upon the history of Vincent’s in the almost-4-decades since purchasing it ensuring it as an established New York institution that welcomes local families, stars of stage and screen, politicians, athletes and dignitaries from around the world.
Not only does it represent an iconic experience in Italian-American dining, but the Vincent’s Brand now extends beyond their locations via the sale of their “World Famous Sauces’, available online and through an extensive list of supermarkets and other retail locations.
We welcome the opportunity to expand our brand even further with the right candidates for our Franchise Operator program.
